Spring Valley Driver Shears Pole in Solo Crash

SPRING VALLEY, CA – A solo car crash late Saturday night left a telephone pole snapped in half and multiple mailboxes destroyed along Campo Road in Spring Valley. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The incident occurred around 11:05 PM near the 9300 block of Campo Rd, where a silver BMW lost control navigating a left-hand curve near Kenwood Drive. The vehicle veered off the roadway, slamming into roadside fixtures, including a set of mailboxes and a telephone pole. The impact sheared the pole, leaving its upper portion dangling in midair, held up only by communication wires.

Although the pole didn’t carry electrical lines, the force of the crash temporarily disrupted nearby infrastructure. Homes in the neighborhood experienced a brief power outage, which resolved itself minutes later.

The BMW suffered major damage, and all airbags deployed. The driver was evaluated at the scene by medics and CHP officers but did not require ambulance transport and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A nearby homeowner, whose mailbox was taken out in the crash, said it’s become a recurring problem. “This is the second time this year,” he told SD Slackers. “We’ve replaced so many mailboxes. One neighbor even built a steel-and-concrete box, but a Jeep wiped it out a couple months back and just kept going.”

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
