CHP El Cajon Pursuit Ends in Crash

Driver in a 4Runner arrested after ramming CHP car; loaded gun found nearby

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) unit in El Cajon initiated a pursuit after attempting to stop a weaving Toyota 4Runner on surface streets. The driver refused to yield, leading officers on a circuitous chase through major El Cajon thoroughfares including Washington Avenue, Main Street, Avocado Avenue, and Jamacha Road.

The pursuit concluded near E. Douglas Street in a closed-end parking lot. In a failed attempt to evade arrest, the driver reversed the 4Runner and collided with the front bumper of the pursuing CHP cruiser. The suspect was immediately detained by officers.

Following the arrest, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered drug paraphernalia inside. Additionally, a loaded semi-automatic handgun was located near the vehicle, reportedly tossed by the suspect while maneuvering in the parking lot.

The driver, who suffered minor injuries during the arrest, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. The suspect faces multiple charges, including felony evading, possession of a firearm, and drug-related offenses.

Brutal Baseball Bat Attack in El Cajon

Woman hospitalized after early-morning fight; police silent on details.

A 42-year-old woman was seriously injured early Saturday morning after she was reportedly beaten with a baseball bat in El Cajon. The victim had left a bar around 1:00 AM and became involved in a fight in front of a residence at 603 Patricia Lane shortly before 1:45 AM. During the fight, she was knocked to the ground and struck several times in the head with a metal baseball bat. She also suffered injuries to her hands and arms.

Medics found her about a block away from the scene and transported her to the hospital for treatment. Officers responded and believed three people were inside the house. Using PAs and callouts, they detained one adult female and saw a minor female at the door. A metal baseball bat was recovered at the scene, but the third person was not found inside the house. The status of that person remains unknown.

El Cajon PD has not commented on the incident. Updates will be shared as more information emerges.
