Who We Are
San Diego Slackers is your go-to source for real-time public safety news across San Diego County — built by locals, powered by scanners, and backed by community. We listen, verify, and post what matters.
Founded in 2023, SD Slackers began when lead Slacker Bill Paul combined a passion for photography, videography, radios, and scanning—plus a bunch of nerdy stuff—with a deep interest in the community around us. What started as a personal project has grown into a community-driven forum where we listen together, share what’s happening, and do our best to capture the story in real time, often with images and video.
Sometimes we license our footage to TV broadcasters, but for the most part, this is a self-funded venture. Scroll down for ways you can support the work.
Everyone likes a good mission statement, so here’s ours: At SD Slackers, we believe the public has a right to know what’s happening in their city. Our mission is to document and share emergency incidents across San Diego County with accuracy, speed, and integrity—giving our community the tools to stay informed and engaged.
