Two Dead After Motorcycle Crash on Lakeside Curve
[LAKESIDE Sun Sept 27, 2:23 am] A man and a woman riding together on a motorcycle died early Sunday after a crash on E Lakeview Rd in Lakeside, according to CHP dispatch records and observations at the scene.
The crash was reported at about 2:23 a.m. in the 13500 to 13600 block of E Lakeview Rd. The motorcycle was down in the middle of the narrow road just past a left-hand curve, and the rider appeared to have left the roadway and struck trees along the right side. The rider and his female passenger were both lying in the roadway.
Lakeside Fire crews performed CPR for a short time, but both riders were pronounced dead shortly after. Two helmets were at the scene, both thrown from the riders during the crash, and one was badly cracked and damaged. It was dark and the road was dry, and weather was not a factor.
Sheriff’s deputies also responded, but CHP took over the crash investigation. CHP called the medical examiner to the scene and had the motorcycle towed and held as evidence.
A resident who heard the crash and called 911 told SD Slackers this is the second bad crash at this location, and that drivers take the curve too fast.
The names and ages of the two riders have not been released. The CHP El Cajon Area office is investigating the cause of the crash.
