[SAN DIEGO (Lake Murray) Wed Sept 16, 8:18 am] – San Diego police have identified two of three family members found dead of apparent gunshot wounds inside a Lake Murray home, and homicide detectives are leading the investigation.

Officers from the San Diego Police Department’s Eastern Division were sent to a home in the 6800 block of Boulder Lake Avenue at about 8:18 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, after a 911 caller reported two people unresponsive and not breathing, according to a department news release issued Thursday, Sept. 17.

The caller said she had found the couple, a husband and wife, inside the residence and was concerned about the whereabouts of their teenage daughter, police said. Officers arrived within minutes and checked the man and woman for signs of life. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified them as David Voight, 56, and Amy Voight, 54. During those efforts, officers also found the couple’s daughter dead in the home. Police described her as a 13-year-old juvenile and did not release her name.

Detectives from the department’s Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation. Preliminary evidence at the scene indicates all three died from gunshot wounds, and investigators recovered a gun in the home, according to the release. The release does not say who fired the weapon and makes no mention of arrests or an outstanding suspect. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death for all three.

Anyone with information is asked to call the SDPD Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
