[EL CAJON, Sat Sept 12, 9:50 pm] A domestic violence suspect who fled from San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies rammed a patrol car multiple times before being tased and taken into custody at the south end of South Magnolia Avenue Saturday night, according to a Sheriff’s sergeant on scene.

The incident began with an incomplete 911 call, possibly a domestic violence in progress at an intersection on Avocado Avenue, south of El Cajon. Deputies attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle in the Spring Valley and El Cajon area. As deputies got behind the car and activated their lights, the suspect let a female passenger out and then drove off, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter was overhead from the start, locating the vehicle and tracking it through the entire pursuit as it went west on Chase Avenue and south on South Magnolia Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The pursuit ended near the 1400 block of South Magnolia, where the road appears to dead-end at a gated driveway.

Sheriff’s officials said the suspect rammed a deputy’s patrol car repeatedly. Visible damage was limited to the front-end bumpers and lights, but the patrol car was left inoperable. After the pursuit ended, the suspect resisted arrest and deputies deployed a taser several times before taking him into custody.

El Cajon Fire Engine 6 and an AMR ambulance crew evaluated the suspect at the scene. He told medics he did not need to go to the hospital, but he was transported to an area hospital for a medical check following the taser deployment.

The sergeant said the suspect will face a Penal Code 245 charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which he described as being on a peace officer, along with a long list of other charges.
