[SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — Mon Jan. 26, 5:30 p.m.]
A neighborhood dispute in Spring Valley escalated Monday evening into a barricade situation that drew a SWAT response and ended early Tuesday with an arrest, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies were dispatched to the 9800 block of Austin Drive shortly after 5:30 p.m. following reports of an ongoing dispute between neighbors. During the response, deputies identified Dimone Carter as a suspect and learned he had allegedly made threats toward a neighbor and was believed to have access to a firearm.
Investigators also determined Carter had two outstanding arrest warrants related to an unrelated case. When deputies attempted to take him into custody, Carter declined to surrender and remained inside the residence.
As the situation continued, sheriff’s officials requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail, citing the barricade and Carter’s reported history of violence. Negotiation efforts continued for several hours as deputies worked to resolve the situation without force.
Just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, SWAT deputies took Carter into custody without incident. A search warrant was later served at the residence, where deputies located a firearm.
Carter was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on charges of making criminal threats. No injuries were reported during the incident.
