Short Pursuit in El Cajon Ends in Standoff and Felony Arrest

[EL CAJON, Mon Dec 8, 7:00 p.m.] — A man suspected of trying to stab a woman during a domestic-violence incident led El Cajon police on a short but dangerous pursuit Monday evening, according to an ECPD lieutenant.

Lt. Brandon Stanley said officers were dispatched after a woman reported that a male acquaintance “tried to stab” her and provided details about the vehicle he was driving. Patrol units quickly located the suspect and attempted a stop, but he fled, prompting a pursuit through several El Cajon streets.

During the chase, the suspect intentionally tried to strike officers and rammed a patrol vehicle, Stanley said. No officers were injured.

The pursuit ended when the suspect returned to the victim’s home — the original crime scene — and pulled into the driveway. Officers said he briefly got out of the vehicle, was hit with a Taser, and retreated back inside. A short standoff followed before he surrendered.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with minor injuries related to the Taser deployment. The female victim was also transported separately for evaluation. Police said the man is expected to face “several felony charges” connected to the domestic-violence incident, the pursuit, and the assault on officers.
