SAN DIEGO (College Area) —
A man escaped serious injury early Thursday after his Nissan 370Z crashed and rolled on Fairmount Avenue north of Montezuma Road, according to San Diego Police.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. in the northbound lanes. Investigators said the driver told officers he was rear-ended by another vehicle, causing him to lose control. Police are still working to verify that claim and determine whether a second car was involved.
Firefighters from SDFD Truck 45 arrived within minutes to find the sports car badly damaged, appearing to have slid on its driver side before coming to rest upright in the roadway. Paramedics evaluated the driver at the scene; details on his condition were not immediately available.
Police said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash. Fairmount Avenue remained partially blocked while officers investigated and cleared debris from the scene.
