Pursuit Ends in Home Invasion

SAN DIEGO (Grantville) — A police pursuit through Grantville and Allied Gardens on Halloween night ended when a fleeing driver abandoned his truck and ran into a stranger’s home, according to San Diego police.

Around 10:30 p.m., SDPD Eastern Division officers attempted to stop a white Ford F-150 for a traffic violation. The driver sped off, leading officers on a reckless pursuit through residential streets as ABLE tracked overhead and patrol units positioned along Zion Avenue and Waring Road.

The truck was found abandoned at the end of Horner Street, in a driveway with no visible damage. The suspect ran from the truck, down an embankment, and into a nearby home on Hamlet Court.

“There were children in the home,” said Lt. Ramero Rodriguez. “They managed to barricade themselves as soon as they heard somebody had entered their house.”

Officers made entry and took the man into custody. He suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene, and later booked into jail. No one in the home was hurt.

Police searched around nearby yards and driveways as residents gathered outside watching the aftermath. The suspect appeared erratic as officers brought him out of the house.
