Firefighters Contain City Heights Blaze, Separate Injury Nearby

San Diego — Fire crews quickly contained a blaze early Sunday in a vacant 42nd Street home under reconstruction, while police across the street handled a separate call for an injured man who reportedly jumped from a window.

The fire was reported at 12:34 a.m. at 4030 42nd Street. The building, in an unfinished framing and plywood stage, was unoccupied. Crews from Battalions 4 and 6 with Engines 14, 17, 18, 26, Medics 17 and 50, Squad 1, and Truck 14 achieved a fast knockdown and requested the Metro Arson Strike Team to investigate.

Across the street at 4067 42nd Street, police and medics treated a man with facial injuries who was intoxicated and had reportedly jumped from a window. He was transported to a hospital. Investigators have not determined how the man was injured and there is no known connection to the fire.
