La Mesa Oktoberfest Returns With Big Crowds, Bavarian Vibes

LA MESA — Oct. 3, 2025 | Southern California’s longest-running Oktoberfest is back in the La Mesa Village this weekend, drawing after-work crowds on Friday for beer steins, polka, and a family-friendly street fair that stretches across the downtown core.

Now in its 52nd year, the three-day festival (Oct. 3–5) blends classic Bavarian touches—oompah bands, stein-holding contests, bratwurst and pretzels—with a modern street market of local vendors, DJs, and selfie-ready beer gardens. By early evening Friday, SD Slackers saw steady foot traffic through the vendor corridors, full tables in the biergartens, and a smooth flow at entry points.

Organizers emphasize that entry to the street festival is free, with optional ticketed experiences for premium areas. Families will find kid-centric zones with rides and activities, while the main stages rotate live music and dance sets throughout the day and into the evening. Expect the usual festival comforts—expanded restrooms, water stations, and plenty of food lines—plus a notable presence of security and event staff along the footprint.

Getting there: Parking in the Village is tight during peak hours, so plan on transit if you can. The MTS Orange Line stops at La Mesa Boulevard Station, steps from the main entrance. Rideshare drop-offs are directed to perimeter streets; watch for posted closures and detours around the Village.

Street closures surround the event area through Sunday night as crews manage pedestrian flow and stage setups. If you’re headed to dinner or errands near the Village, give yourself extra time—or make a night of it and lean into the festival.
