SAN DIEGO — A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday on Interstate 805 southbound between the Adams Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard overcrossings, prompting an extended closure as investigators documented the scene and crews cleared debris and spilled oil.
CHP radio traffic first reported a rider down in the lanes shortly after 12:05 AM. Responding units held all lanes while establishing a flare pattern and later routed vehicles into the #1 lane to restore limited traffic flow. The San Diego County Medical Examiner was notified at 12:20 AM.
At the scene, the body was located in the freeway lanes between the two bridges, with the motorcycle apparently sliding roughly 200 feet beyond that point. Several vehicles had stopped nearby, including a blue Hyundai Santa Fe showing moderate front-right damage and an oil leak. A black Mercedes Sprinter and a Chevy Avalanche were also associated with the scene; neither showed significant visible damage. CHP coordinated multiple evidence tows, including one directed to the Speedway station off University Avenue.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The identity of the deceased motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification by the Medical Examiner.
