9.18.25 San Diego – A domestic-violence call in Valencia Park spilled into the street late Friday, culminating in a crash that damaged a parked work van and sent two people to the hospital.
Police stated on the 5500 block of San Onofre Terrace said the incident began around 11:30 p.m. inside a residence where a man allegedly strangled his partner. The man allegedly fled the home with a set of keys to a vehicle that didn’t belong to him.
Roughly an hour later, the man returned and tried to take the car. What followed was a chaotic few minutes in which he was seen driving back and forth along the block. A white van became involved—possibly to block or strike the moving car—though witnesses offered differing accounts of who initiated contact and why.
At one point, another neighbor threw a rock at the sedan’s windshield. It is unclear whether the act was intended to stop the vehicle, self defense, or was part of a separate confrontation. Moments later, the man rammed the small silver sedan into a parked work van, bringing the street disturbance to a stop.
Paramedics transported the female victim of the reported strangulation to a hospital. The male driver was also transported with unspecified injuries. Two additional people who became involved—including the driver of the white van—were detained at the scene while officers sorted out statements. Whether any of them will face charges remains unknown.
A neighbor provided cellphone video capturing a portion of the street maneuvering and the aftermath of the collision.
Because this is an active domestic-violence investigation, authorities have not released names. All parties are presumed innocent unless charges are filed and proven in court. This story will be updated if officials release more details on arrests, charges, or the victim’s condition.
