La Mesa — Saturday 9/13, 4:11pm. A woman driving a Lexus ES 350 crashed into the corner of a two-story apartment building at 8401 Parkway Drive, near Buckland Drive, pushing the corner in by roughly a couple of feet. La Mesa Fire/Rescue’s USAR 12 responded to check for structural damage and any electrical or gas hazards, and a city building inspector was called to evaluate stability.
The driver reported pain and was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution. No serious injuries were reported among occupants inside the building. A second ambulance was requested later for reasons that were not immediately clear.
The American Red Cross was asked to assist six displaced residents while crews determined whether units could be reoccupied. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
