San Diego – Early Friday morning, a Ford Explorer ended up perched on top of the concrete barrier at the College Avenue on-ramp to westbound Interstate 8.
The crash was reported just before 12:40 a.m. when 911 callers said a vehicle had gone off the main lanes of I-8 and struck the on-ramp barrier. Responding CHP units found the SUV stuck on the divider, blocking the on-ramp.
The female driver was evaluated at the scene by paramedics. While no major injuries were immediately reported, radio traffic indicated three people were seen walking away from the vehicle when officers first arrived.
The on-ramp from northbound College to westbound I-8 was closed while CHP coordinated with tow operators to remove the Explorer. The incident was cleared about an hour later.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
