Mission Bay Park — On Thursday, September 4, 2025, a red sedan overturned along the northwestern curve of Fiesta Island, briefly trapping the sole occupant. Firefighters arrived quickly and freed the driver without a prolonged extrication. He was able to walk around afterward and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation.
Witnesses said the car appeared to enter the curve too fast, clipping a trash can and leaving the paved roadway before rolling. The exact cause remains under investigation.
Fiesta Island’s access gates are generally closed at night, and it’s not unusual for vehicles to remain inside after hours; it’s unclear whether that contributed to this crash.
