Mission Valley Mystery Crash

Mission Valley, San Diego — Wednesday 8/27, 11:15 PM

San Diego police are investigating a strange crash scene in Mission Valley where the details remain a mystery.

Officers were called to the 3500 block of Camino del Rio North for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian. When they arrived, they found a man in pain but awake on the roadway. Just feet away, a car sat stopped and facing the wrong way, its windshield smashed in. The car’s engine was still running, the doors were locked from the inside, and no one was inside.

The man at the scene could not recall what had happened. He told police he didn’t remember how he got there—and wasn’t even sure if the car was his.

Police are investigating several questions: Was the man the pedestrian who was struck? Was he actually the driver, somehow thrown from the vehicle? Or did someone else flee the scene, leaving him behind?

As of now, officers say the situation remains under active investigation.
