Ocean Beach — At 12:13 a.m. on Aug. 24, 2025, a pickup traveling downhill on the 4600 block of Santa Cruz Avenue slammed into at least three parked cars, leaving a debris field and heavy damage across the block.
San Diego Fire-Rescue crews arrived to find the pickup’s driver trapped and performed a tool-assisted extrication. Medics transported the driver, and two additional patients—described on scene as possibly teenagers—were also taken by ambulance (three total). Their conditions were not immediately available.
Cause remains under investigation. Based on initial observations at the scene, speed is suspected; DUI has not been determined. SDPD Traffic Division is handling the case. Neighbors with doorbell or security camera footage near 4625 Santa Cruz Ave. are encouraged to contact police to assist the investigation.
