El Cajon (Unincorporated), August 19, 2025 — A two-car crash Tuesday evening drew CHP units and sparked renewed concerns about safety on Ballantyne Street.
The collision happened around 6:40 p.m. at Ballantyne Street and Hart Drive, involving two Nissan sedans. Medics checked one of the drivers at the scene, but neither motorist required hospital transport. CHP responded to the incident, notably arriving in one of their new patrol cars now rolling out across the county.
A resident who lives near the intersection said speeding is a persistent problem on Ballantyne. “They really should put in a four-way stop here,” the neighbor remarked, pointing out the frequency of near-misses and collisions.
The crash was handled as a routine traffic incident with no major injuries reported.
