A late-night freeway crash near Grossmont Center Drive ended with one person hospitalized and the driver under arrest for DUI.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 8 attempted to take the southbound State Route 125 ramp but lost control. The car went off the left embankment, sheared through a tree, and rolled over before coming to rest back on the freeway.
Paramedics treated the passenger for injuries described as pain complaints; they were transported to a nearby hospital. The driver was given a field sobriety test and subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.
CHP is handling the investigation.
