High-Speed Pursuit Across San Diego

A dramatic pursuit unfolded across San Diego on the afternoon of August 11, 2025, beginning at 2:40 PM when CHP responded to a stalled white Honda on the Coronado Bridge. Initially, the vehicle yielded to officers, but moments later, it took off eastbound at 70 mph, then accelerated to 75 mph as it sped over the bridge and onto I-5. CHP lost visual contact, and discontinued the pursuit.

At 4:50 PM, SDPD located the vehicle in the City Heights neighborhood, reigniting the chase. The suspect’s vehicle hit multiple cars, including an SDPD cruiser, while the pursuit reached speeds of 110 mph. The suspect abandoned the vehicle near 24th Street and fled on foot, prompting officers to set up a perimeter and search the area with the help of ABLE.

After an extensive search, the suspect was found hiding under bushes at 2420 F St. at 5:58 PM and was taken into custody. The 50-year-old Hispanic male, described as bald and wearing a white shirt and jeans, had ditched a bag containing a replica gun, raising concerns about the possibility of other weapons.

The suspect’s reckless drive through the city, which included crashes with multiple vehicles and a foot chase, led to his eventual arrest. Authorities are continuing their investigation as the suspect faces pending charges.
