On July 14, 2025, La Mesa Police and San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at 5757 Lake Murray Blvd. A small white sedan was attempting to turn into the driveway of an apartment complex when it was rear-ended by a dark gray Chevrolet pickup truck.
The impact spun the sedan approximately 180 degrees. Despite the lack of airbag deployment, the female driver of the sedan appeared to be in pain and was assisted from her vehicle by firefighters and EMS personnel. She was evaluated in the back of an ambulance for an extended period but ultimately declined transport to the hospital. A family member arrived on scene to assist.
The driver of the pickup truck appeared uninjured, but his vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage. He was evaluated at the scene by La Mesa Police for signs of intoxication. After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, the man was arrested for driving under the influence.
