Dorothy Drive Rollover Wrecks Two Parked Cars

Driver Rollover on Dorothy Drive Sends One to Hospital, Residents Say Street is a Known Problem Spot

Late Saturday night in El Cajon, a dark-colored sedan rolled over after striking two parked vehicles on Dorothy Drive. The crash happened around 11:00 PM and involved a Toyota 4Runner and a brand new Corolla—both owned by the same unlucky resident.

Firefighters from Heartland Fire & Rescue arrived on scene alongside El Cajon police officers. While the driver was not trapped in the vehicle, the car came to rest in a way that required firefighters to assist him out and onto a gurney for ambulance transport. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that have not yet been disclosed.

One local resident, who also had his car hit in a similar incident last year, told us this crash is part of a larger issue. Dorothy Drive, although residential, serves as a shortcut between major streets and sees a high volume of fast-moving traffic. Residents say they’ve raised safety concerns for years. While a stop sign and new road striping were recently installed after city council lobbying, those measures didn’t stop Saturday’s crash.

Whether speed or DUI were factors remains under investigation.
