A press release from SDPD FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, June 20, 2025 San Diego – A man was killed and woman injured in a shooting in Kearny Mesa. On June 20, 2025, at 4:40 a.m., San Diego Police received a report of a shooting at 8065 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Eastern Division patrol officers responded to the scene and located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided first aid until San Diego Fire/Rescue arrived and transported both injured parties to a local hospital. Homicide investigators have learned there was an event at the Nara Ultra Lounge hookah bar. At some point, an altercation occurred leading to the shooting. A suspect has been described as a Black male in his 20’s who fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. The exact nature of the altercation remains under investigation, and investigators are processing the scene for evidence, reviewing security footage, and speaking to witnesses. At least two people were hit by gunfire. Unfortunately, a 21-year-old Hispanic male died from his injuries at the hospital. He has been identified, but his name is not being released at this time pending family notification. The second victim is a 37-year-old Black female. Her name is not being released at this time. She was treated at the hospital and released. Many people were present at this event and left prior to police arrival.
