A suspected drunk driver smashed into parked cars early Monday morning on University Avenue, sending shards of window glass across the street. The crash happened just before 2:45 AM in the 5200 block of University Avenue. A woman driving a Toyota Prius rear-ended a parked white minivan that was outfitted with external racks holding sheets of commercial window glass. The impact pushed the van into a second gray minivan, and the collision left broken glass scattered across the roadway. The rear of the white van was crushed inward by several feet. Police say the driver admitted she had just left the Tower Bar nearby. Officers conducted a field sobriety test, which the woman failed. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI. There were no reported injuries, but the cleanup was extensive due to the shattered glass.
